Reflecting on the 8 values of free expression, each holds significant importance in the fostering of an inclusive society. One value pertaining the most to me personally is autonomy. Autonomy underlines a lot of governmental concepts, essentially meaning the fundamental right of individuals to express themselves freely. Autonomy empowers individuals to share their thoughts, beliefs, and opinions on not only the government but other concepts, and enables the freedom to do so. It allows for the general  diversity of public discussion and discourse. Growing up, I always held high value for the ability to express myself in a way that was as open and honest as possible. Especially as I grow into that quality, I am definitively appreciative for my ability to exercise those rights in the sense that I do not have to not fear for my life while doing so. 

Autonomy is defined as "the right to self governance." For me, this value feels particularly important because it regards the sense of free expression. The freedom to articulate precisely how I think and feel has always been a huge part of my identity- simply put, I probably would not survive in a dictatorial state because I have a tendency to run my mouth. However, the glory of living in America is the fact that we possess the ability to do so. Autonomy also extends to administrative agencies and bodies, who are tasked with the enforcement and regulation of laws. These agencies must have the independence to make decisions based off of articulate evidence, without political bias or special interests being taken into consideration.  

Furthermore, autonomy within government also applies to subnational entities like states, provinces, and local governances. Such bodies of government must follow the fundamental principles that underlines the function of a democratic society.These entities often have a degree in maintaining at least a portion of autonomy (for example, in foreign affairs like governance they are also managing internal affairs. Autonomy within governmental is fundamental to the values and the system on which our country was built upon. It helps to ensure that judicial decisions are made impartially and transparently, and entirely without bias. Similarly, legislative auonomy empowers elected representatives to enact laws that genuinely reflect the will of the people more so than personal interests: Governmental/administrative agencies require autonomy to operate effectively, implementing laws and addressing needs of citizens.

In essence, autonomy within government serves as a safeguard against tyranny and ensures that power is distributed responsibly, preventing the concentration of authority and abuses of powers. This allows for a government that is require to respond to valid concerns and require to make proper decisions to address such concerns. By upholding autonomy, a certain level of societal peace is able to be maintained.
