In the Age of AI

With the rapidly evolving field of technological innovation, the emergence of artificial intelligence, also known as AI, presents the possibility of both a hopeful and yet unsettling future. I'm a college student navigating the intricacies of this revolutionary moment, as it will most likely have the largest impact on those in my generation and those after us. While AI holds great potential, I also try to be careful of the drawbacks and not to fall into overusage. 'In the Age of AI' explores these concepts, and does a great job at providing reasoning on why the consequences from advancing this technology may be severe for not only those in America, but also other countries as well. 



AI's potential to boost businesses, create new tech itself, and overall alter social standards is what makes it so tempting to use- and the best part is, it's easily accesable to everyone. With this 'what if?', it's important to think what the goal could be. In this case, I believe it is to improve and streamline communication, technology, etc. Industries like healthcare, banking, data entry,  transportation are made possible by AI algorithms' capacity to handle enormous volumes of data and single out and extract insightful information. Better productivity, efficiency, and even creativity are easier to curate, indicating a future in which intelligent technology will supplement human ability.




While acknowledging AI's potential, we also need to address its ethical implications. With constant data collecting and monitoring, privacy becomes a critical problem. It requires a delicate but patient type of undertaking to find a balance between protecting individual privacy rights, and using data for social gain. Furthermore, the necessity for open and responsible AI systems is highlighted by the possibility of all my personal information suddenly accesable to the person who coded programs.AI developments become interwoven in a sense with both national and internet security in a overly connected and monitored world. As we shape the future of technology and society in this era of artificial intelligence, we need to proceed cautiously and be aware of both its advantages and drawbacks.

Anti War vs the American Patriot

A lot of American's, similar to myself, have looked back on the (albeit tragic) events of World War One as a patriotic landmark in our countries history. I always was of the opinion that it was a time that had citizens banding together and gaining a sense of civic duty. Men of all ages and backgrounds were sent either through the draft or volunteering. Women at home took over the jobs the men left behind. It was a garnered sense of community amongst millions of people with one thing in common: a love for the country and to protect those back home. However, after watching those videos and doing other research, I realize that I was greatly mistaken.
